Here is what you need to be successful in this role
  • SAFEGUARD: Work to a professional code of ethics with confidentiality and neutrality
  • SUMMARIZE: Provide verbal and written summaries of day-to-day communications across all levels of the Spanish language; including complex and/or highly idiomatic speech, slang, and colloquial expressions
  • TRANSCRIBE: Review audio/video material and write/transcribe information with a superb degree of accuracy and expression
  • TRANSLATE: Accurately translate a wide variety of complex material from Spanish into Standard English
What You’ll Get to Do!!

As a Linguist your mission will be to have a sense of urgency and to be an organized, deadline-driven self-starter; capable of juggling multiple priorities at once and executing each to completion.

You will provide translation services of various media sources from target language into English for the law enforcement community. Going beyond the role of a translator, Linguists are tasked with being able to identify and interpret slang and colloquial expressions from different target speaking regions and translate them into professional English.
  • Listen to or read foreign language communications, to perform immediate verbal summaries
  • Review audio/video material and write/transcribe information with a superb degree of accuracy and expression
  • Accurately translate a wide variety of complex material from Spanish into Standard English
  • Objectively evaluate information and make sound judgments on changing situations
  • Provide verbal and written summaries of day-to-day communications across all levels of Spanish, including complex and/or highly idiomatic speech, slang, and colloquial expressions
  • Work to a professional code of ethics with confidentiality and neutrality

What You Will Need To Have
  • One year of translation experience (professional or personal) Four years without bachelor’s degree
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Native or near-native oral and written communication skills in both Spanish and English
  • Ability to deliver the highest quality of work under extreme pressure
  • Availability to work a minimum of 32 hours (4 shifts) per week when assigned to a project
  • MUST be available to work a flexible schedule; to include nights, weekends, and holidays
Candidates that do not meet the minimum qualifications will not be considered.

Security Requirements
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Resided in the U.S at least 3 of the past 5 years.
  • Must be able to obtain a law enforcement sensitive background check and possess credit in good standing.
